October is Mi'kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia. The goal of the month is to help Nova Scotians build awareness of Mi'kmaq history and heritage, and to increase understanding of the province's rich Mi'kmaq culture.

Best Buddies will meet today at lunch in the Learning Centre, bring your lunch with you.
Lates
We are noticing a large amount of students coming into the building in the morning and afternoon late to school. A reminder that the morning bell goes at 8:30am (for students to be in class) and the afternoon bell is at 12:25pm (for students to be in class at 12:30pm). Late detentions will be starting this week - Friday’s afterschool, for students with three or more lates per week. With no school this Friday - Detentions will be held Thursday afterschool.
Library Club
The annual Pumpkin Colouring Contest will be ending on Tuesday so be sure to get your submissions in by then! Grab some outlines for the weekend to create your pieces! Voting will be begin Wednesday with winners announced on Halloween!
Spirit Week
Attention Mustangs: Get your creativity flowing and your school spirit soaring - Spirit Week is just around the corner!
Starting on Monday, October 28th, each day of next week will feature a different theme, and both students and staff are encouraged to participate.
Monday: Dress Like Your Favorite Candy – Sweeten up the day and wear colors, patterns, or accessories that represent your favorite candy!
Tuesday: Jersey and Sportswear Day – Show off your team spirit! Wear your favorite sports jersey or sportswear.
Wednesday: Adam Sandler Day – Channel your inner Sandler with relaxed, oversized and mismatched attire!
Thursday: Costume Day – Get creative and wear your favorite costume! Remember, no masks or fake weapons.
Friday: Pajama Day – Wrap up the week in your coziest sleepwear!
Hackathon
HarbourHacks is Nova Scotia’s first hackathon for students ages 13-18! It is happening on November 2 from 5PM to 7:30PM and on November 3 from 9:30AM to 6PM. The event is located at Dalhousie University’s Sexton Engineering Campus near the Halifax Central Library.
You may be wondering what a hackathon is. A hackathon is an event where teams come together to solve problems using either software or hardware over a short time period.
