ANNOUNCEMENTS: Monday, October 21, 2024: WEEK #2; CYCLE DAY F

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:

We would like to acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaw people. 

We would also like to acknowledge people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

October is Mi’Kmaq History Month 

October is Mi'kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia. The goal of the month is to help Nova Scotians build awareness of Mi'kmaq history and heritage, and to increase understanding of the province's rich Mi'kmaq culture.

Girls Intramural Volleyball Tournament

Teams B3 and B4 play at lunch today.  

Teams A1 vs A5, and B1 vs B5 play after school today

Movie Club

Do you like watching movies? Looking for a quiet place to eat your lunch with friends each Friday? Join Movie Club in Room 135! We’ve extended our sign up deadline until the end of the month.

Lates

We are noticing a large amount of students coming into the building in the morning and afternoon late to school. A reminder that the morning bell goes at 8:30am (for students to be in class) and the afternoon bell is at 12:25pm (for students to be in class at 12:30pm). Late detentions will be starting this week - Friday’s afterschool, for students with three or more lates per week. With no school this Friday - Detentions will be held Thursday afterschool.

Leadership

There will be a leadership meeting tomorrow, October 22nd, at 11:35 in the outer guidance office. Please bring your lunch. 

Library Club

The annual Pumpkin Colouring Contest held in the Library is well underway.  Grab your pumpkin and be inspired by past winners.  The deadline for submissions is next Tuesday with voting the next day.  The winner will receive a bag of Halloween goodies on October 31!

Peer tutoring

Just a reminder that peer tutoring will be taking place tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct 22 in Mme Choueiri’s room (room 235). 

SAC

Are you a student who would like to more involved in your school.  If so, maybe the School Advisory Committee is for you! The School Advisory Committee meets once a month to discuss important issues, provide feedback on school policies, and help plan initiatives. If you would like to have an input on these issues, please see Ms. Lannon!

Take Our Kid to Work Day

Just a reminder to grade 9 students that your Take Our Kid to Work Day consent forms are due by Thursday, October 24th. Please hand these in to your homeroom teacher. 

Soccer

Good Luck to the Girls and Boys soccer teams as they play for the Championship today!!
