May 30 Announcements

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Friday May 30,2025: WEEK #1; CYCLE DAY E

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:

We would like to acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaw people.

We would also like to acknowledge people of African ancestry, whose histories and legacies have contributed to Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Upcoming Dates/Reminders:

May - is Canadian Jewish Heritage Month

May - is Polish Heritage Month

May - is Asian Heritage Month

May - is Speech and Hearing Month

May 25 - 31 - Access Awareness Week

Asian Heritage Month: The month in which we celebrate these cultures was chosen intentionally for two reasons. First, May commemorates the first Asian immigration. Second, May marks the transcontinental railroad completion, where Chinese immigrants were responsible for some of the more dangerous labor tasks associated with this project. Any time is an excellent time to celebrate culture, even if it is not yours. Even though it is the last day of May, I encourage you to continue to learn about Asian Heritage.

Provincial Track day: Good luck to our students who are participating today and tomorrow in events.

IWK Fundraiser

Attention students and staff! Mark your calendars! On Wednesday, June 4th, our school will be hosting a bake sale to raise money for the IWK Health Centre — a hospital that provides exceptional care to women, children, youth, and families across the Maritimes and beyond. There will be lots of delicious treats to choose from, and every dollar helps support this amazing cause.

But that’s not all — don’t miss our BBQ in support of the IWK next Friday, June 6th! For $4, you’ll get a hot dog or veggie dog along with a drink, and for just $1, you can cool down with a jumbo freezie.

Please bring your appetite and your generosity — let’s make a difference together, one bite at a time!
