African Heritage Month

Did you know:

Our own library at Astral Drive has many books and resources that are both fictional and nonfictional that support African Heritage Month, authors and history. Feel free to continue your inquiry and discovery by signing out some of those resources. Ms. Judy, the librarian, would be more than willing to help.

Get to know:

Martin Luther King was an American activist, and political philosopher who was one of the most prominent leaders in the civil rights movement from 1955 until 1968. He believed that love, compassion and kindness were key in making our communities stronger, while promoting racial equity, expanding civic opportunities and/or encouraging respect for individual differences. As we finish our daily announcements during African Heritage Month, I encourage you to continue to be a lifelong learner about race and cultural differences. I challenge each of you to find a way to incorporate empathy and kindness into your daily lives. What you do can make a world of difference. Let’s all do our part in sharing positivity and stopping judgment and racial hate. Together we all can make a difference!

Library

Students, please be aware that eating in the library is a privilege.  Failure to pick up your garbage and disrespecting our space will result in you having to find an alternative eating area.

Bookbags

Just a reminder that students shouldn’t be carrying their book bags to gym class…even if it is before lunch or fifth period. Students should not be going to their lockers between classes. We need to do better at this.
