Did you know:
Wade Smith was an activist, athlete, educator and family man. He believed in the power of education, talent, and mentorship and demonstrated what doors each of these could open. He was an educator and principal for more than 25 years in the public school system. He believed in the “each one teach one” philosophy and in giving back to his community in order to make a difference.
Get to know:
Floyd Kane was born in East Preston, and graduated from Cole Harbour High School. He pursued an English degree at St. Mary's University, before enrolling at Dalhousie Law School. Kane graduated law school and was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1998.
From 1999 to 2003, Kane secured a position as in-house legal counsel at Salter Street Films, a movie and television production company based in Atlantic Canada. As a media lawyer and production executive he worked on productions such as This Hour Has 22 Minutes and the Bowling For Columbine documentary.
In 2004, he joined Halifax Film Company as the Vice President of Creative and Business Affairs. In 2006, Kane created North/South, a Canadian soap opera produced by the Halifax-based production company which aired on CBC Television.
In 2010, he started his own independent company Freddie Films Inc., producing projects such as the film Across the Line, a screenplay he wrote.
In 2018, he created the CBC original drama, Diggstown, which was the first Canadian legal drama television series to feature a Black Canadian woman as its lead character.

This prestigious award recognizes students who exemplify outstanding qualities of leadership within our school and community. If you're someone who takes initiative, inspires others, and actively contributes to making a positive impact, then this award is for you. Please pick up an application from Ms. Lannon’s office and submit it by Wednesday, March 19th. Applications will be reviewed by school staff, and one outstanding applicant will be selected for recognition.

Cole Harbour Library
Join us Tuesday night for Teen Night at Cole Harbour Public Library from 6-7:30 for a songwriting workshop! It is open to all junior high and high school students, it is totally free, and there are snacks.
Drama Club
The drama club will meet today after school for improv practice from 2:30 to 3:30 in the library.
Lunch time
The library will be closed today at lunch. The gym will be open for badminton tryouts only. It will be an outdoor lunch, please bring your outerwear with you at lunch time.
