ANNOUNCEMENTS: Tuesday, Sept 16, 2024: WEEK #1 ,Day B

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:

We would like to acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaw people. 

We would also like to acknowledge people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Scents - Perfume and Body Spray

Body Spray, perfume and scents are not permitted in HRCE schools. Students are not permitted to wear scents, please respect the learning environment and the needs of others.

Lates:

We will be starting our weekly late detentions next week. A reminder to students that if you are late to class more than three times, during the week, you will have an office detention on Monday afternoons. Students whose parents inform the school that the student will be late, will not be affected. 

Morning Safety - Reminder to all students to use the sidewalk (not the grass side) walking down the street to the loop in the front of the school. Please do not walk through the loop as cars will be entering and exiting throughout the day. Use the sidewalk to walk past the elementary school to come to the junior high.

Cell Phone Policy - Following the Provincial Cell Phone policy, students are not permitted to carry a cell phone or device on their person during instructional time. Instructional time begins at 8:20 when you enter the building. Cell phones and devices (including headphones) need to be put away and stored in your locker before you head to the first period. Students are allowed to use them during lunch. 

Boys Soccer:

There will be a practice tomorrow from 3:30-4:45. Please be on the field 10 minutes early to warm up and see Mrs Kennedy for attendance.

The first boys soccer game of the season will be on Thursday Sept 18 at 3:45. We will be playing Graham Creighton at the Craig Blake Memorial Field in Montebello. Boys are asked to be at the field by 3:15. 

Woodshop

Due to safety regulations, sneakers are to be worn at all times in the woodshop.

Green Team

Do you care about the environment and want to make a difference in our school? Join the Green Team! We work together on fun projects like recycling and finding ways to make our school more eco-friendly. It’s a great way to meet new people, share your ideas, and help our planet.

Cross Country:

There will be a cross country practice TODAY (Sept 16th) after school. Any students who wish to participate in meets must attend in order to have their name on the final team list. Information packages will be going home with details about the meets. If you are unable to attend please see Mrs. Carter by the end of week to get information.

Band:

Lunch band starts today. Jazz/Pops is at lunch today. The tour band starts tomorrow!!

Library Club

The Library Club meets today after school.  Stop by to see what we’re planning!  Can’t make it?  Speak with Ms. Demers at lunch time.

Halifax Public Library 

Join us tonight for Teen Night at Cole Harbour Public Library from 6-7:30 for the Coletastic Book Fair! It is open to all junior high and high school students, it is totally free, and there are snacks and tons of prizes.
