October is Mi’Kmaq History Month
October is Mi'kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia. The goal of the month is to help Nova Scotians build awareness of Mi'kmaq history and heritage, and to increase understanding of the province's rich Mi'kmaq culture.

Girls Volleyball
The girls volleyball team will practice after school on Wednesday Oct 16th from 4-5:30.
Girls Intramural Volleyball Tournament
There will be a very important and quick meeting for every girl who tried out for the volleyball team in Mr. Lukenda’s room at the beginning of lunch today. All the girls who tried out for the girls volleyball team should have been placed on a tournament team that is posted outside of the gym. If your name is missing, please come see Mr. Lukenda so I can get you on a team. Games will take place on Mondays and Thursdays at lunch and after school on Mondays and Wednesdays. The schedule has also been posted outside of the gym. Teams A1, A2, B1, and B2 will all play Wednesday right after school at 2:45

Cross Country
Congratulations to the school Cross country team who represented Astral with pride at the Regional Meet last Thursday at Point Pleasant Park. All athletes ran strong races. Special mention to top finishers Xander Le Grange who placed 4th overall in the Junior Boys Race; Liam McKnight who placed 7th in the Intermediate Boys race; and the Intermediate Boys team who will all advance to Provincials at the end of October. Well done team!
Library Club
It is time for the annual Pumpkin Colouring Contest! Come to the Library to get your pumpkin outline and create your own design. The winners will be announced on Halloween.
