LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:

African Heritage Month Fact of the Day
After the Revolutionary War, the “Black Pioneers” were among the first settlers in Shelburne, Nova Scotia. They helped build the new settlement. On its fringes, they established their own community…“Birchtown.” When hundreds of white, disbanded soldiers were forced to accept wages comparable to their black neighbours, a riot ensued in July, 1784.
Girls Basketball
Girls Basketball semi final game will take place today at ADJH against Ellenvale.  Start time is 4:00pm. 
Cole Harbour Library
The public library is hosting African Heritage Month-themed Jeopardy in Room 106 today at lunch. As always, it is free to participate and there will be lots of prizes! Go to Room 106 over lunch to play Jeopardy with the library.
School Dance
Our next school dance is Thursday, February 29th.  Tickets can be purchased on-line via School Cash.
Best Buddies
Best Buddies will meet Thursday at lunch in the Learning Centre.
Food drive
This month at ADJH,  we are collecting non-perishable food items for Feed Nova Scotia. The food drive will run from February 6th- 16th to help support those in need in our community. Please ensure items are within expiry date and in good condition.  Homerooms will be competing for a prize to whoever brings in the most amount of food!

Spirit week
Students and staff are encouraged to take part in our Spirit week next week.
Monday February 12th, we will kick off our Valentines Spirit week with Monochrome Monday (wear the same color, head to toe)
Tuesday will be Neon Day
On Wednesday we wear pink for Valentine’s Day
Thursday will be silly socks and crocs day
Friday will be PJ day
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Candy grams will be sold in the foyer. 50 cents for one and 3 for a dollar.
Leadership
There will be a leadership meeting in Mme Arseneau’s room on Friday at lunch.
Peer tutoring
Need to complete an assignment? Study for an upcoming quiz? Take the opportunity to do that today at lunch in Mr. Phee’s room (122). We have peer tutors, chromebooks and snacks!
