In recognition of African Heritage Month, we will be playing Lift Every Voice and Sing in lieu of O’Canada. It will play in about a minute.

African Heritage Month Fact of the Day -

Born on July 6, 1914, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Viola Desmond is one of Canada’s best-known civil rights activists, fighting to end racial discrimination and segregation in Nova Scotia. ⁠Desmond was known as an inspiring mentor to young Black women with her school for beauticians called the “Desmond School of Beauty Culture” and was an advocate for racial equality.
Best Buddies
Best Buddies will meet Today at lunch in the Learning Centre.
Food drive
This month at ADJH,  we are collecting non-perishable food items for Feed Nova Scotia. The food drive will run from February 6th- 16th to help support those in need in our community. Please ensure items are within expiry date and in good condition.  Homerooms will be competing for a prize to whoever brings in the most amount of food!
Boys Basketball
Boys Basketball semi-finals will be today 4pm at Caledonia Junior High.
Spirit week
Students and staff are encouraged to take part in our Spirit week next week.
Monday February 12th,  we will kick off our Valentines Spirit week with Monochrome Monday (wear the same color, head to toe)
Tuesday will be Neon Day
On Wednesday we wear pink for Valentine’s Day
Thursday will be silly socks and crocs day
Friday will be PJ day
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Candy grams will be sold in the foyer. 50 cents for one and 3 for a dollar.
Leadership
There will be a leadership meeting in Mme Arseneau’s room tomorrow at lunch.
Library
A reminder that the Lunar New Year colouring contest is closing for submissions today.  Voting for favourite pieces will take place Friday.  Stop by the Library to pick up a sheet, or to submit your final pieces to Ms. Demers.

Girls Basketball

The girls basketball team unfortunately lost their semi-final game against Ellenvale last night by only one point, with a final score of 38 - 37. The team will have a final practice next week.

Drama Club

The drama club will meet for improv practice today in the library from 2:30 to 3:30.
