LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:

African Heritage Month Fact of the Day
Mary Ann Shadd Cary arrived in Canada from the United States at the time of the Underground Railroad.  In 1853, she broke the glass ceiling in Canadian print media history when she became the first female publisher in the country with her newspaper, The Provincial Freeman.
Halifax Public Library
Teen Nights are every Tuesday from 6-7:30pm. These are open to anyone in grades 7-12 and don't require registration unless otherwise stated. This weeks theme is
February 6: Cat Crafts for Charity

Makers Gonna Make is an all ages makerspace program that happens every second Saturday from 2:30-4:00. Typically the themes alternate between something more crafty and something STEM-focused. No registration required. The upcoming ones are as follows:
February 10: Heart-Shaped Happiness
February 24: Bucket Bread

Club Queirdo is open to all students in grades 7-12: while it is focused on queer teens, allies are also welcome. No registration required. This month, Club Queirdo is meeting up from 4:00-6:00 on Thursday, February 15 to make Love Potions.

Girls Basketball Team
Girls Basketball practice will take place today from 2:30-4:00pm.

Lunch Band
Grade 7 Band at lunch has been cancelled for today.
