ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Monday, December 11, 2023: WEEK #1

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
We would like to acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaw people. The Treaties of Peace and Friendship cover this territory .

We recognize that African Nova Scotians are a distinct people whose histories, legacies and contributions have enriched Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

December School Dance

Our next school dance will be this Thursday December 14th from 6:30 - 8:30.  The cost is $6.00 and can be paid through School Cash. 

Library

All borrowed books must be returned by the end of the week before Christmas break.  Books that are not returned will be followed up with guardians.

On another note, the bi-annual Library book sale begins today.  Each book is 10 cents only!  Books can make a great holiday gift or holiday pass-time.  Stop by at lunch time to find something special.

Drama Club

The drama club meeting today is cancelled. The X-Rounds tournament will take place this Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 at Cole Harbour High. Any students who are interested in going to this event should meet in Ms. McCoombs room at the beginning of lunch tomorrow.

Girls Basketball

A reminder to the team that the Sackville tournament starts today after school. The first game is at 3:30pm and the second game is at 5:30pm. Any students who are getting a drive to the tournament will need to meet outside 9othe office at 2:30 today. Player fees of $20 are also due today via School Cash.

Cheerleading
Cheer team fees of $30 are now due and can be paid via School Cash.

Band
For those students who have taken part in the band pizza fundraiser, pick up dates are as follows:
Student’s last name starting with N-Z, your pick-up date is Wednesday, December 13th from 3:00-8:30pm.  Pick up location is Kenny’s Pizza on Cole Harbour Rd.

Lunchtime - Reminder
As the weather is getting colder, this is a reminder to all students to retrieve their coats and lunch bags from their lockers before going to the canteen, lunchroom, gym or library.  There have been many students asking to go back to their lockers for coats and other items before heading outside.  Going forward (and as we have always done), you will not be permitted back to your lockers to retrieve items you have forgotten before going outside. Please take everything you will need with you when you leave your lockers for lunch.

Jessie Tree Fundraiser
We would like to thank everyone for supporting the Jessie Tree Fundraiser this holiday season. It was a tremendous success. For those students who had their picture taken with Santa Claus,  you can pick up your picture today at lunch from Mr Lukenda in room 168.
As well, a big thank you to the staff who came out for the pieing event.

Reminder to Grade 9 Tech Ed
If you are going on a field trip tomorrow morning with Ms Little, please ensure your permission slip is passed in. Thanks

Spirit week
Students and staff are encouraged to take part in our December spirit week, starting this Wednesday, December 13th with JERSEY DAY

On Thursday, Dec. 14th, it’s Happy Holiday accessory day! Wear your festive socks, headwear and jewelry!
and on Friday, Dec. 15th, it’s Favorite Color Friday. Pick a color and wear it head to toe!
