Upcoming Dates/Reminders:

Healthy Living Initiative - students can sign out Decathlon sports equipment from Mme Pushie at the beginning of lunch in the gym.  **This equipment is not Phys Ed equipment but equipment bought for lunch time use. Equipment will be borrowed from Mme Pushies’ class at the beginning of lunch.

School Supplies Drive
Do you keep forgetting school supplies or keep running out? We do, too. That is why the class of 906 is running a school supply drive! On Friday, May 17th a box will be placed in your homeroom for new supplies such as, looseleaf, pencils, erasers, etc. and the class with the most amount of supplies by May 24th will win a free gym class!
Library Club
The Library will be having a special meeting after school today.  Please show up if you can.

General Housekeeping
There are new shelves outside the gym, please put your binders in the shelves. Not on the floor or on benches. 

Aubcon
Aubcon 2024 will take place on Saturday from 10am-5pm at Auburn Drive High School.  Activities include:  play D&D, video games, board games, visit vendors, cosplay, anime, food and lots more! 
Student tickets are $5.00

IWK Fundraiser
For several years now, the Astral Drive Junior High community has been very generous in donating to the IWK Health Centre through many fundraisers. The IWK is an important place in our province that provides care and support to countless women, children, youth and families. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the IWK Telethon and as a school, our goal is to raise $2000. Today, the leadership team will be hosting a barbecue at lunchtime and all the proceeds will be donated to the IWK. Hotdogs, drinks and jumbo freezies will be for sale. Check out the posters on the first floor for details. Cash only!

Track & Field
Congratulations to all athletes who finished competing in the regional track and field meet over the last 2 days. Athletes represented Astral with pride! We had 13 athletes qualify for Provincials in Cape Breton next weekend. Any athlete who still has a singlet is asked to bring it to the gym today. Athletes who qualified for Provincials MUST check in with Mrs. Carter, Mr. Carew or Mr. Elliott TODAY to let them know if they intend to compete next weekend.

Girls Softball
There will be a girls softball practice today after school.

Grade 9 Reminder
Please bring in your permission slips for next week’s orientation at Auburn Drive High.

A final message and request to staff and students.  Our caretaker has been finding rocks in the doors of the building throughout the day.  Please, DO NOT put rocks in the doors to keep them open as it is a security risk. HRCE schools need to be secure buildings to ensure everyone’s safety. Again, please do not put rocks in the doors to prop them open.
