LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
We would like to acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaw people. The Treaties of Peace and Friendship cover this territory .

We recognize that African Nova Scotians are a distinct people whose histories, legacies and contributions have enriched Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

African Heritage Month Fact of the Day
On July 22, 1796, a group of 600 freedom-fighters landed in Halifax.  These immigrants, called Maroons, came from a Jamaican community of escaped slaves who had guarded their freedom for more than a century and fought off countless attempts to re-enslave them.

Teen Night - Paint Night
Come get creative!  Paint along with an instructional video for your very own paint night.  All skill levels welcome.  Snacks and drinks provided.
Tuesday, February 13th 6:00-7:30pm Grade 7 and up.
Food drive

We are continuing to collect food donations for Feed NS until Friday. Please ensure items are within expiry date and in good condition.  The class that brings in the most will have a choice between a class in the gym and a pizza party!
Grade 9 Photos
Grade 9 Grad photos will take place this Thursday, Feb 15 (in the library – morning).  Lifetouch will provide the gown/sash/white-dress shirt/tie.  If you have your own white-dress shirt/tie, please wear it.  Students are asked to look at the grade 9 composites on the wall to see what previous students wore on their grad photo day.
Cheerleading
Cheer practice will be Tuesday, 4pm-6pm.  Theme is pink and red.
Dance
ADJH dance will be on Thursday, February 29th.  $6.00 fee can be paid via School Cash.

Spirit week
Our Valentine's Spirit week kicks off today with Monochrome Monday! Thank you to all staff and students who are wearing the same color, head to toe!
Tomorrow will be Neon Day
On Wednesday we wear pink for Valentine’s Day
Thursday will be silly socks and crocs day
Friday will be PJ day
Candy grams
The leadership team will be selling Candy grams at lunch today and tomorrow in the front foyer. 50 cents for one and 3 for a dollar! Candy grams will be distributed to students on Wednesday for Valentine’s day.
