Did you Know?

Did you know that Petroglyph means rock drawings? Mi'kmaq are well known for their ancient rock carvings. In fact, Kejimkujik National Park is home to some of the oldest petroglyphs in the province. There are over 500 individual petroglyphs within Kejimkujik National Historic Site, making it one of the largest collections in Eastern North America. The images range from animals, peoples, hunting expeditions, families, matriarchs, leaders, clothing, the Mi'kmaw peaked cap and more. The site is scared and protected. These petroglyphs are not accessible to the public for their continued preservation.
