MI’KMAQ HISTORY MONTH
October is Mi’kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia. The goal of the month is to help Nova Scotians build awareness of Mi’kmaq history and heritage, and to increase understanding of the province’s rich Mi’kmaq culture.  Treaty Day, October 1st marks the beginning of Mi'kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia as proclaimed in 1993 by then Premier John Savage and Mi’kmaq Grand Chief Ben Sylliboy.

Best Buddies will meet tomorrow - Wednesday at lunch, in the Learning centre.

FALL FEST

Leadership (Fall Spirit Week)   October 22nd-25th

Today - Tuesday is Twin Day!  At lunch, go to the gym to play Musical Scares! It's 25cents to enter the gym. No non-participating spectators please.

Wednesday is Plaid/Flannel day. On Wednesday at lunch we will be playing Smash the Mash again this year! That means The Monster Mash will play, on repeat, until we reach our fundraising goal of $75 to be donated to the same shelter as our Socktober drive. If you can remember how annoying this was last year, bring in some money to make it stop faster!

Last but not least, Thursday will be PJ day and there will be a special Halloween edition of Just Dance going on in the gym at lunch. Again it's 25cents to enter the gym and there will be no non-participating spectators.

Check the bulletin board in the front lobby for all of the spirit days and activities!

GIRLS’ SOCCER
The girls’ soccer team is asked to be at the Burnside turf today at 12:30 for their 1:00 game against Fairview Junior High. All players are responsible for their own rides. Remember to dress warm and good luck to the team!

BOYS’ SOCCER
There will be an important meeting for the boys’ soccer team today at 11:45 in MS Little's lab. All members must attend.  The boys’ soccer team advances to the regional championships tomorrow - Wednesday, October 24th.

GUIDANCE NEWS

1)  GSA meets this Thursday after school in Guidance!
2)  All grade nine students please remember to hand in your forms for Take your Kid to Work Day form to your homeroom teacher by this Thursday, Oct. 25th.

The Guidance outer-office is open from Tuesdays to Thursdays at lunch.  20 people maximum.  Please bring your lunch as it is first come, first serve!
• Tuesdays - Wii day where we will play games on the Wii.
• Wednesdays - Board Game day
• Thursdays are Movie day

GARBAGE
Students are reminded to put their garbage in the garbage containers out and around the school grounds!  Please do not drop it on the ground!  Thank you!

Lollipops for sale, at lunch, this Thursday.  Cost $1 each!

LIBRARY NEWS

Come in to the Library at lunch to watch our Halloween themed movie, "Beetlejuice".

GIRLS’ ONLY RECREATIONAL SPORTS
All grades (girls) invited tomorrow - Wednesday, October 24th to play dodge ball or Gaga ball during girl's only recreational sports which is from 2:45 to 3:45. Bring spare clothes and no spectators allowed!

LOST & FOUND
Students are asked to please check the Lost & Found (items in two containers by the main doors on the Astral side of the building).  Please take any items that belong to you!

Reminder – Courtesy Bus is only available to those students whose parents registered with Stock Transportation over the summer.  The bus driver will have a list of students who are permitted to take the bus (if registered).
