MI’KMAQ HISTORY MONTH
October is Mi’kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia. The goal of the month is to help Nova Scotians build awareness of Mi’kmaq history and heritage, and to increase understanding of the province’s rich Mi’kmaq culture.  Treaty Day, October 1st marks the beginning of Mi'kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia as proclaimed in 1993 by then Premier John Savage and Mi’kmaq Grand Chief Ben Sylliboy.

BOYS' FLAG FOOTBALL

The practice scheduled for today has been cancelled.  Your next practice will take place tomorrow - Friday at 3:30pm!

LOLLIPOPS
Lollipops will be sold Friday at lunch from 11:45 -12:05 in the front foyer. Cost is $1.00 each.

SOCKTOBER - LEADERSHIP
Attention ADJH Students!!!!  We are having a “sock” drive this October from Tuesday, October 9th to Friday, October 19th.  We encourage students and staff to bring in new socks of all sizes to donate to a local shelter.  Students are asked to give the socks to your homeroom teacher to collect!  Bringing in new socks is just a small thing we can do to help a person in need!  Thank you for your support!

LIFETOUCH – RETAKES
October 16th – next Tuesday – Lifetouch will be here to do student photo re-takes.   

GUIDANCE NEWS
The Guidance outer-office is open from Tuesdays to Thursdays at lunch.  20 people maximum.  Please bring your lunch as it is first come, first serve!
• Tuesdays - Wii day where we will play games on the Wii.
• Wednesdays - Board Game day
• Thursdays are Movie day

1)  Our first Girls’ group will meet on Wednesday, October 24th after school in Guidance.
2)  Our first Boys to Men will take place on Monday, October 15th!  See you then.

GARBAGE

Students are reminded to put their garbage in the garbage containers out and around the school grounds!  Please do not drop it on the ground!  Thank you!

BOYS’ SOCCER

The boys’ soccer won the Akerley Eastern Final defeating EPEC 2-0 yesterday. Goals scored by Toni Adeoye and Kyle Matharu with a header. More information to follow regarding your next game.  Good luck!!

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Congratulations to the girls’ soccer team on another amazing win, defeating Sir Robert Borden by a score of 14-0. Sarah Neville was the game’s leading scorer with 4, Lily Langille and Ciera Oliver-Dares had a hat trick each, Grace Pece scored 2, and Haley Elliott and Beth Neville each had one. The girls had an impressive undefeated regular season and will go on to play for the Akerley zone championship on Monday. More information for this game will be announced soon.

LOST & FOUND

Students are asked to please check the Lost & Found (items in two containers by the main doors on the Astral side of the building).  Please take any items that belong to you!
