MI’KMAQ HISTORY MONTH
October is Mi’kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia. The goal of the month is to help Nova Scotians build awareness of Mi’kmaq history and heritage, and to increase understanding of the province’s rich Mi’kmaq culture.  Treaty Day, October 1st marks the beginning of Mi'kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia as proclaimed in 1993 by then Premier John Savage and Mi’kmaq Grand Chief Ben Sylliboy.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
Girls Akerley Zone Championship game is TODAY - Monday at 5:00pm at IRA Settle field in Dartmouth!

BOYS’ SOCCER
The boys soccer team will be playing on Monday at 3:45pm on IRA Settle field. If you don't have a ride, please see

SOCKTOBER - LEADERSHIP
Attention ADJH Students!!!!  We are having a “sock” drive this October – we are accepting new socks up to and including Friday, October 19th.  We encourage students and staff to bring in new socks of all sizes to donate to a local shelter.  Students are asked to give the socks to your homeroom teacher to collect!  Bringing in new socks is just a small thing we can do to help a person in need!  Thank you for your support!

LIFETOUCH – RETAKES
October 16th – tomorrow - Tuesday – Lifetouch will be here to do student photo re-takes.   

GUIDANCE NEWS
The Guidance outer-office is open from Tuesdays to Thursdays at lunch.  20 people maximum.  Please bring your lunch as it is first come, first serve!
• Tuesdays - Wii day where we will play games on the Wii.
• Wednesdays - Board Game day
• Thursdays are Movie day

1)  Our first Girls’ group will meet on Wednesday, October 24th after school in Guidance.
2)  Our first Boys to Men will take place on Monday, October 15th!  See you then.

GARBAGE
Students are reminded to put their garbage in the garbage containers out and around the school grounds!  Please do not drop it on the ground!  Thank you!

GIRLS’ FLAG FOOTBALL
• Girls’ flag football scheduled for tomorrow – Tuesday is for the grade 9 team only.
• Girls’ flag football scheduled for this Thursday is for the grade 7 & 8 teams only.

LOST & FOUND
Students are asked to please check the Lost & Found (items in two containers by the main doors on the Astral side of the building).  Please take any items that belong to you!

AFTER SCHOOL BUS DUTY

Reminder – Courtesy Bus is only available to those students whose parents registered with Stock Transportation over the summer.  The bus driver will have a list of students who are permitted to take the bus (if registered).
